John Stevens, Technology Director for NBID Associates, served in multiple technology and innovation management positions in his twenty-three year career at The Dow Chemical Company.
With exposure to many world-leading engineering and process professionals and material scientists in his early years, John made significant contributions as a process, product and application researcher. Examples include the development of an integrated process for polystyrene, automating then demonstrating the urethane process, solving challenging product and process issues for an innovative roofing insulation product and leading process and product development for various plastic film and foam products.
As Discovery Research Manager and as Senior Innovations Manager, John was responsible for annual funding of tens of millions of dollars of breakthrough projects. He supported and guided projects in a host of fields ranging from advanced materials to aerospace to personal care, packaging and medical specialties to construction materials and bio-based polymers.
John combines his foundational technical understanding and a voracious, curious appetite for consuming new information with state-of-the-art market and business development principles and practices to provide a unique capability for finding and developing major new business opportunities.
John holds a BS in chemistry and an MS degree in chemistry from the University of Arkansas and has also completed advanced studies in chemical engineering through Texas A&M and in polymer science through Case Western Reserve University.
